# Domain brokerage

A service where a broker represents a buyer or seller to negotiate a domain sale. The broker finds counterparties, handles talks and usually earns a commission when the deal closes.

## Why it matters

A brokerage fits deals where price, privacy or reach matter. Sellers get outreach to likely buyers. Buyers get a way to ask about a name without exposing their identity. Many brokers work on commission, and some require an exclusive agreement for a set term. Services and fees differ, so compare them. A common mistake is signing an exclusive deal without reading how commission applies to sales that happen outside the broker's efforts. Ask about the term length, the fee, the escrow plan and who will talk to the other side.
