# Identity Digital

A company that runs a large portfolio of top-level domains, such as .live and .life, and offers registry services. It was formed from the combination of Donuts and Afilias.

## Why it matters

Identity Digital is one of the largest registry operators. Its extensions sit alongside .com in aftermarket listings, though demand varies by extension. The company also supports registry services for other extensions, and its RDAP server appears in the IANA record for .ai. For buyers, knowing the registry matters because policies, premium pricing and renewal rules come from it. A common mistake is assuming all extensions from one operator behave alike. Each has its own pricing and rules. Check the registry's terms for any extension you plan to buy.
