Registration and DNS

Push

A push is a move of a domain between two accounts at the same registrar. The domain stays put at that registrar. Only the account that controls it changes.

Why it matters

Pushes are the fastest way to deliver a domain when buyer and seller use the same registrar, such as GoDaddy. No auth code or registrar transfer is needed, and DNS settings usually stay in place. Websites and email products attached to the domain do not move. A push still counts as a change of registrant at some registrars, which can start a transfer lock. Confirm the buyer's account details exactly, because a push to the wrong account is hard to undo.
