# Reveal Day

Reveal Day is the day ICANN publishes the list of new gTLD applications in a round, showing who applied and for which strings. For the 2026 round it was 7 October 2026.

## Why it matters

Reveal Day shows which extensions may come next and who plans to run them. Investors and brands read the list for strings tied to their names or industries. Brand owners may need to defend their marks, and domain owners may see new rivals for their keywords. The publication does not mean a string will launch. Many applications face objections or contention with other applicants. Common mistake: treating a revealed string as certain. Years may pass before names go on sale, and some strings never launch.
