# Success fee

A success fee is a payment owed to a broker only if a sale closes. It is usually a percentage of the final price, so the broker earns nothing if no deal happens.

## Why it matters

Success fees line up the broker's pay with the seller's result. Sedo's price list shows how this looks in practice: 15% to 20% of the sale price, depending on the service. Sellers pay nothing upfront for these models, but some buyer-side services add a contracting fee. Read how the fee is calculated, when it is due and whether it covers escrow and transfer. A common mistake is assuming the fee is the only cost. Escrow and other fees can be separate.
