ICANN meeting

An ICANN meeting is a public gathering where the internet naming community discusses domain policy. Registries, registrars, governments, and users attend in person and online.

Why it matters

ICANN holds three public meetings a year in different regions. The next one, ICANN87, is set for Bali, Indonesia, from 17 to 22 October 2026. Policy talks on transfers, abuse, and new extensions shape the rules owners follow. Brokers and investors attend to meet registry and registrar staff. Buyers and sellers can follow sessions and read published notes to get early notice of changes. Common mistake: expecting immediate rule changes. Policy takes many steps, and an effective date often comes long after a meeting.
