Why it matters
Brands buy common misspellings of their own name to catch typo traffic and block misuse. Third parties who register typos of someone else's brand can face a UDRP complaint. The value of typo traffic to an investor is low and often risky. Advertising income from it has fallen, and search engines handle misspellings better now. Common mistake: buying a typo name because it shows traffic in a report. If the visitors expect another company, a complaint can follow, and the traffic can vanish when the name is taken away.
