Why it matters
Typosquatters use the traffic for ads, fake sites, or phishing. Brand owners fight it with UDRP complaints and defensive registrations. Buyers of a similar-looking name risk a complaint if the name copies a known mark. Even innocent typo names can be risky. A legal claim often turns on intent, such as whether the owner targeted the brand. Common mistake: buying a name just because it gets typo traffic. If the traffic exists only because of someone else's brand, the name may be taken away.
