Two-letter domain (LL)

A two-letter domain is a name with only two letters before the extension, such as AB.com. The aftermarket calls them LL domains. In .com there are 676 possible combinations.

Why it matters

Two-letter .com names are very scarce, since all 676 combinations are taken and none can be hand-registered. They sell as short brand assets, often for six or seven figures. Value rises with letters that mean something, such as common initials. Buyers include startups, funds, and holding companies. Common mistake: trusting a valuation tool for these names. Sales are few, so comparable data is thin, and the price depends on the exact pair and the buyer's budget. Use known sales and a broker.
