Counteroffer

A counteroffer is a reply to an offer that changes the price or terms. In domain sales it is the seller's price after a buyer's offer, or the buyer's new offer after the seller's reply.

Why it matters

Most domain sales take a few rounds of counteroffers. Moves should shrink as both sides get closer. Marketplaces build this in. GoDaddy Auctions, for example, gives sellers seven days to accept or counter an offer. Offers also come with terms such as payment through escrow. A common mistake is replying with a big jump or an emotional message. Stay calm, give a reason for the number and make clear when your offer ends.
