Buying and selling

Make offer

A listing type with no fixed price, where a buyer submits an offer and the seller can accept, decline or counter. Marketplaces use it for names the seller prices by negotiation.

Why it matters

Make offer lets a seller test demand without naming a price too early. The buyer's first offer also tells the seller what the name might be worth to that person. Marketplaces often let sellers set a minimum offer, so very low offers are blocked. Buyers should offer with care. A rushed low bid can end the talk. A common mistake is a buyer making an offer before researching comparable sales. Another is a seller ignoring offers, since a quiet buyer may be gone for good. Reply promptly, even with a counteroffer.
