Asking price

The asking price is the amount a seller wants for a domain when it is listed or quoted. It is a starting point for negotiation, not a guaranteed sale price.

Why it matters

A good asking price fits the name's value, the likely buyer's budget and recent comparable sales. Set it too high and buyers walk away. Set it too low and you leave money behind. Some sellers publish a price. Others hide it and ask for offers. Buyers should treat the asking price as an opening position. A common mistake is anchoring on the asking price without checking what similar names have sold for.
