Cost per click (CPC)

The amount an advertiser pays each time someone clicks an ad. In domains, a high CPC for a keyword suggests that businesses value customers searching for that term.

Why it matters

CPC is a quick signal of commercial value. If advertisers pay a lot for clicks on "mortgage rates," the words are worth money, and a domain built on them may be too. Investors check CPC along with search volume. It is not a price for the domain. A high CPC also means more competition, and the keyword may fit a regulated industry. A common mistake is paying a high price for a name only because the keyword has a high CPC, with no plan to use it. Pair CPC with comparable sales and a real use case.
