Domain types

Keyword domain

A domain name that contains words describing a product, service, place or topic. It signals to people what the site is about, such as a name with "plumbing" or "loans" in it.

Why it matters

Keyword domains are easy for customers to understand and can fit a local or niche business well. They also tend to be less brandable than invented names. Exact-match keyword names once gave strong search gains, but search engines no longer reward them that way. Value now comes from clarity and trust. Buyers should check that the keyword has real commercial demand. A common mistake is paying a premium for a keyword phrase nobody searches. Look at search volume, ad costs and comparable sales before making an offer.
