Buying and selling

Buy-side broker

A buy-side broker, also called an acquisition broker, is a domain broker who works for the buyer. The broker finds the owner, negotiates the price, and manages the deal, often without naming the buyer.

Why it matters

Buy-side brokers help when the owner is hidden, the price is unknown, or the buyer does not want to alert the seller. The broker can approach the owner anonymously, which often keeps the price lower than a known brand would face. Fees are usually a commission on the final price or a fixed fee. Buyers should agree on a budget and a limit in writing. Common mistake: contacting the owner directly first. This can raise the price and make a later broker approach harder.
