Why it matters
Reported sales help set price expectations because they show what real buyers paid. They are not complete or always easy to compare. Some sellers do not report, some prices include payment plans or other terms, and a few reports are not checked. A name's category, extension and buyer type all change the price. A common mistake is using a few headline sales to value an ordinary name. Look for several reported sales of similar names, in the same extension and period, and treat the figures as ranges, not exact targets.
